For body filler work, use 80–120 grit for initial shaping, 180–240 for blocking and levelling, and 320–400 for final guide coat sanding before primer. Always use a sanding block or DA sander rather than hand sanding with discs — hand pressure is uneven and creates low spots that only become visible after painting.
